Altered Cigar box

Here's another upcycle project for National Earth  Month! My husbands birthday was a couple of days ago so I altered a cigar box for him since he can't ever find his keys, watch, and wallet! :)

Now he's the kind of man that doesn't like things to be too busy so I tried to keep this really clean and show majority of the wood. I chose to go with "No. 1 DAD" because of course the kids wanted to share in the giving process but not the making! LOL

Now the tag I actually received in a tag swap, but I can't remember the crafters name. I lined the inside bottom with some brown felt, but forgot to take a pic. :(

For this section all I can say is layer, layer, layer! :) I was really trying to get more color on the box without doing too much for his taste. Happy Birthday Sweetie! :) Thanks for looking everyone!

Altered containers

 Here's an upcycle project for National Earth  Month! These containers are perfect  for holding my smaller, loose embellishments especially once I cant find the original packing anymore! :)

 I altered vegetable spread containers, large and small as well as peanut containers.

 For the most part I chose to alter them with a theme or color scheme so I could readily know what I have stored inside without having to open every one. :)

 With just some card stock, embellishments and sealer, this upcycle project is not only fun but functional as well!

Altered mini frame

Hello everyone! The last project I did (Altered Nesting Boxes), I used some Distress Crackle paint and I really like how it turned out. So I decided to give it a try on mini frame that I have had sitting in my craft room for a couple of years now that I purchased from the dollar store!

This 3x5 frame started with a silver, shiny almost chrome like finish on it. I applied a coat of white Gesso first to prep it for the acrylic paint and let it dry completely. Then I painted a coat of pink acrylic paint over the entire frame and allowed it to dry. Now comes the fun part! I painted the frame with Distress Crackle paint and set it aside to dry. Waiting for it to dry was the hardest part! :) I really love how this turned out! The pink barely showing through the cracks really makes it pop! Then to embellish it, I just grabbed a flower from my stash and stick pin to match and hot glued them in place.

Altered Nesting Boxes

Happy National Craft Month!!! I've decided to alter some nesting wooden boxes. This project was fun and easier than ever!

The hardest thing about altering these cute boxes was decided whether to go with paint or paper to cover them...

So I did a combination of both! By using a coordinating paper pack from My Mind's Eye, all I had to do was use a coordinating paint and decided to go with Distress Crackle paint.

For the large box I used all paper to cover it. I inked the edges with Distress Ink Tea Dye and this is the only box top that I used a dimensional embellishment because the other tops would not be able to nest if they weren't flat embellishments.

On the medium box, I used the combination of covering 2 of the sides and the lid with Gesso and then Distress Crackle paint. I love the shabby chic look of crackle paint!

The smallest box I used all paper again, but this time I used the same pattern on all 4 sides and inked the edges with Distress Ink Tea Dye. I also used a piece of the pattern paper to cover the top and just used Stickles to embellish it!

Valentine card & Shabby Chic Pearl pendant

This card was so fun to make...and fast! I used all card stock and printed paper from my stash.

 After cutting all of my layers, I used my eCraft Purpleberry to cut the heart. I inked the edges of the base of the card, the pink card stock, the printed paper and the heart. I embossed the word "Love" with some red embossing powder. After I glued all of my pieces down, I added some Stickles to the corners of the red card stock and around the heart. I also added a heart shaped gem as a last minute touch.

I wanted to share this Shabby Chic Pearl pendant I made as a gift to one of my scrapbooking friends. I made a smaller one some time ago and added to the "My First Altered Wood Box". Click here for the  tutorial.

Teacher's Rock!

Hello everyone! Today I made a card for my youngest darling daughter Sunshyne's teacher, using My Mind's Eye School Daze paper pad!

I wanted to do a little something for her to let her know that I appreciate the extra help she gives my daughter.

The sentiment says, "Teachers make the little ones count". I love how everything coordinates so well with this pad. I only added 3 pieces of solid card stock from my stash to create this card.

After fussy cutting the pencil out, I used my alphabet rubber stamps with some embossing ink to add little extra touch.

Sending you encouragement

Hello everyone! I made this card for my Mom that just had back surgery. I wanted to use somewhat soft colors without using a lot of pastels.

 I chose to use the sentiment "Sending you encouragement" because every other card she received had the sentiment "Get well soon", I like to be different. :)

 After choosing the pattern paper that I wanted go with. I used some matching card stock, inked the edges and stamped the sentiment using Distress Ink. 
 I added some brown rhinestones to the corners and some clear ones to the butterfly that I punched.

The flowers were from my stash and I used Cinnamon Stickles to accent the column of dots on the side of the card. I hope you have enjoyed this quick and easy card. Thanks for looking! :)

Quick Christmas Card!

 Hello everyone! Sorry I couldn't get a better pic for this but I made this card using these wonderful card toppers! They come in a pack of 6 and I have used everyone in a different way! I love them!

 On this particular one I cut a piece of red card stock to cover the front of the card and inked the edges with distress ink. Added a ribbon on one side from my stash. Then I added some gold Stickles to rim of the curtains, tie backs, and flames on the candles. After adding Glossy Accents to the bows, and other various place I was done! Quick, easy and beautiful!

Christmas Wreath

Hello everyone! It's beginning to look allot like Christmas around here! :)

I made this yesterday to hang on our door. Surprisingly, everything I used to create this came from the Dollar Tree! I love that store when it comes to crafting sometimes! :) Here's some close-ups...thanks for looking!

Wooden Christmas Frame

Hello everyone! I made this Christmas Wooden wall decor using the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium paper pack.

I stained the wood with Tim Holtz Distress stain. After measuring the different compartments, I went through the paper pack and cut them to fit and matted some with solid colored card stock.

I made the bow using a green sheer ribbon and a thinner satin burgundy ribbon and tied it using my bow maker..

Just to add a little sparkle, I added some Distress Stickles and a gold star to this section as well as a stick pin.

This paper pack gives so many options on creativity. With just adding some gems and star buttons that I tied little bows on, this section is almost my favorite! :)

I bought this flower from my local dollar store and took it apart. I re-assembled it in reversed order and added a rhinestone brad and some Stickles to the center.

Good morning everyone! :)
This will be my second year at attempting to make all of my own Christmas cards to give to family, friends and clients. This is what I like to call a nice clean and simple design. Very easy to make and fast!

I made this card (size A2) by cutting a 8.5x11 sheet of card stock in half. I then layered the green and red card stock and cut a piece of white card stock for the sentiment. The circles were punched and then stickers applied. The gems were applied with glue dots and after inking the edges of the card I was done! Quick and cute! I love making cards! :)

I figured the holidays that are coming up are the ones that people most likely have parties and have family and friends over for dinner. You might not be able to tell by the picture but, that is a drink coaster I made from a ceramic bathroom tile! Isn't it cute?!?!? :) These are inexpensive at the hardware store and they come in a variety of colors, but if they don't have the color you want, you can always paint them! I love it!!

Here's some for when the family comes over for Christmas dinner! As easy as 1, 2, 3! And you don't have to stop there...

I made this one for my Kevin. Now he has a coaster to match his cup of his favorite team!

Hello everyone! Here's a quick and cute little sign I made to put on my front door for the Halloween season.

I know I've said it before, but I will say it again......I LOVE MY eCRAFT PURPLEBERRY!!!! :)
I was really stumped on what to create. When I came in the house yesterday and realized I hadn't decorated my door for the holiday yet, that's when it hit me to make a Halloween sign.

I used eCraft to cut the title and then I went from there. After layering the different color card stock, I used some Stickles-Black Diamond to add little dots around as a border.

 

 I downloaded and cut the little ghost and the jack-o-lantern. I also used Mustard Seed Distress Stickles to enhance jack's eyes and winning smile! The dangling spiders at the bottom of the sign is a piece of ribbon I received in a swap last year. I really like how this turned out and I had such fun creating it this morning!
